Michael Mitchell, M.D. is board certified in Internal Medicine and received his college education at the University of Virginia. He earned his medical degree at the Medical College of Virginia and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C.

He has been practicing medicine in Alexandria since 1997. He has been a recipient of the Patient Choice Award and cited as a “Top Doctor” in Washingtonian Magazine, Northern Virginia Magazine, and Washington Consumer Checkbook multiple times.

In addition to treating acutely ill patients, Dr. Mitchell believes in practicing preventative medicine – identifying and addressing risk factors for common diseases to try to improve outcomes.

He lives in Northern Virginia with his wife and enjoys running, bicycling, golf, tennis and keeping up with his two boys.
